Facial Palsy and what it is like to live with facial paralysis

Facial Nerve Palsy

About me

There is obviously a lot more to me than just being the girl with congenital facial palsy!

My name is Karen Johnson and I was born in Peterborough, UK. I have a passion for computers and enjoy building websites although am in no way an expert! I am good at search engine optimisation though and thoroughly enjoy this kind of work.

I am also Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply qualified and although I no longer work in this area, I still love to find a bargain or a good deal!

My time is mainly spent either working or with my family and my beautiful cat "Pickle". Having four children means we don't have a lot of spare cash but I think that's fairly normal in the current economy. I'm blessed with a very happy marriage so I don't think you can ask for a lot more in life, if you've got health and happiness then you really are quite rich.

I'm going to try and put together a "Your Stories" page with other people's stories about their facial palsy, so if you want to be included then please email me. I did think about having a forum but they are extremely time-consuming, I used to run a smurf forum!, and I don't think I could devote enough time to it to make it of any use.

There is a fantastic group on Facebook called Courage to Smile.  This group was set up by people with facial paralysis or who have relatives with Facial Palsy.

I would also recommend joining the Facebook group, Ffion's friends, this was set up by a mum of a child with Facial Palsy.
